One of my favorite hobbies is sewing! Since 2020, I've designed, hand-sewn, and sold custom swimwear through my small business, Bikinis by Jasmine. From marketing to material sourcing to branding to delivery, I've loved every moment of building my business.

I also founded an annual internship for selected female-identifying high school juniors and college underclassmen to provide hands-on finance, design, and operations experience. I'm proud to state that the Bikinis by Jasmine interns went on to study marketing, business, and fashion in college after the conclusion of the internship.

Here are a couple of pictures of swimwear I've created!

iPhone Repair

Frankly more a product of my clumsiness than anything else, but since elementary school I’ve loved taking apart and fixing iPhones and other Apple devices. Most of the time it’s just rescuing my own phone (I’m guilty of using my MacBook charger a little too often), swapping a battery, or doing a quick favor for a friend—but over the years I’ve built up a small collection of tools and devices.

Anyways, if you break your phone, let me know — I’ll fix it for free!

History & Philosphy

Admittedly, my heart lies in the study of history and philosophy. U.S. history — and particularly the evolution of crime, punishment, and surveillance — has always pulled at me. I’m drawn to how philosophical concepts like the panopticon animate real systems of power, and how the narratives we inherit shape what we believe is “normal.”

I’m equally fascinated by the philosophical dimensions of political conflict and peace in Northeast Asia. The ways memory, trauma, and identity inform diplomacy feel both deeply human and profoundly structural. There’s something powerful about studying a region where history is constantly negotiated, contested, and reinterpreted.

My interest in settler colonialism and the myth-making of “wilderness” within the U.S. sits in that same space. Nakano’s framing of settler colonialism as structure — shaping race, gender, land, and belonging — reshaped how I read nearly everything: policy, national parks rhetoric, even childhood textbooks. It reminds me that the landscapes we move through are never neutral.

What ties all of this together, for me, is the belief that history and philosophy aren’t abstract — they’re alive. They press against our present-day decisions, policies, identities, and assumptions. And studying them gives me a vocabulary for understanding the world with more nuance, empathy, and honesty.
